The Hon. Warwick L. Smith AO LLB, Chairman
Mr. Smith is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Australian Capital Equity, which has significant interests in media, entertainment, research and technology development, as well as property and industrial activities.
He is a Director of Seven Group Holdings and Estia Health and a range of companies in Hong Kong and China.
He is Chairman of the Australia–China Council and Global Trustee of the Asia Society.
Formerly, he was a Senior Executive of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (‘ANZ’), Director of Coates Hire, National President of the Australia China Business Council; Chairman of E*TRADE Limited, the Australian Sports Commission and an Executive Director with Macquarie Bank for 10 years; and a Federal Government Minister with a parliamentary career spanning 15 years.
Mr. Smith has also received a Centenary Medal, and two awards in the Orders of Australia; Member of the Order and Officer of the Order.
Charlie Aitken, CIO and Executive Director
Charlie has more than 22 years of equity and futures market experience. He was the author of the “Ringing the Bell” newsletter and the “Under the Southern Cross” newsletter. He is an expert contributor to the Switzer Super Report and, previously, Alan Kohler’s Eureka Report. He appears frequently on Australian and global finanical media as an expert on Australian equities and global macroeconomic strategy.
Charlie’s career experience includes being a Director and Head of Sydney Sales Trading for Citigroup, Executive Director and Partner of Southern Cross Equities and Executive Director and Board Member of the ASX listed Bell Financial Group.
He is best known for his high conviction, top down and bottom up investment ideas formulated from consistently meeting with listed and unlisted companies, policymakers and regulators.
Robert Rankin, Non-executive Director
Robert Rankin is the Executive Chairman and Founder of Pacific Point Partners, a global investment management firm. He is non-executive Chairman of DeepRadiology, a healthcare technology business in California. Robert is also a member of the Australian Trade, Tourism and Investment Policy Advisory Council.
Prior to founding Pacific Point Partners, he was CEO of Consolidated Press Holdings and Chairman of Crown Resorts Limited, two of Australasia’s most iconic companies. He has predominantly been based in Hong Kong for the past 15 years.
Robert was at Deutsche Bank from 2009-2015. He joined as CEO of Asia Pacific, where he was responsible for the bank’s management and strategic direction in the region. He was later appointed as Co-Global Head of Investment Banking and Global Head of Corporate Finance, based in London. Robert was a member of the Group Executive Committee and served as a Director on the Board of Hua Xia Bank, based in Beijing. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Robert spent 16 years at UBS, where he was Head of Investment Banking Asia Pacific. He also served on the UBS Investment Bank Board.
Rankin holds a Bachelors degree in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney, and lives in London with his wife and two children.
Ellie Aitken LLB, MCOMM (HONS), BCOMM, GAICD, Non-executive Director
Ellie Aitken has gained two decades of education and experience in investment banking, philanthropy, business and commercial law, allowing her to contribute a valuable combination of legal, financial and entrepreneurial skills to corporate and not-for-profit boards of directors. She is currently admitted as a solicitor to the Supreme Court of NSW.
Ellie began her career as a financial research associate at JPMorgan Chase following internships at the Commonwealth Bank in the Funds Management and Debt Originations groups. She subsequently practiced as a solicitor in the Mergers and Acquisitions group, predominantly in the Funds Management sector, at Clayton Utz following her clerkship at Allens Arthur Robinson in the Mergers and Acquisitions, Intellectual Property and Capital Markets Groups. Ellie also managed her own business between Hong Kong and Sydney while she had her two children in 2009 and 2013.
Ellie has acted as a director or committee member of various not-for-profit organisations including the Polo Association of NSW, the Sydney Dance Company, the YWCA, the Australian Ballet, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Blind Society and the Sydney Children’s Hospital. She volunteered for the UNSW Homeless Persons’ Legal Service and was involved in a YWCA program, acting as a mentor to primary school children. She is currently the Chair of the International Committee of the Australian Ballet Ambassador’s Board and Deputy Chair of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network’s “Sunschine” Committee.
Ellie holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales, a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Accounting) from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Commerce with Honours (Finance and Accounting) from the University of Sydney. Ellie also graduated from the Australian Institute of Company Directors’ Course in 2017.
Christopher Nasser BA GAICD, Non-executive Director
Chris is co-founder and Executive director of BCDO Capital and has over 15 years of experience investing in global equity markets and alternative asset strategies. Through BCDO Capital, Chris oversees a portfolio of investments with a focus on the hospitality, property, and technology sectors. He is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) with a major in Political Science from the University of New South Wales.
Chris joined the board of Aitken Investment Management in September of 2016.
